"And I'm lucky to have my two favorite cousins," he said happily, trying to forget about his little slip. Hopefully Maglor would forget as well.
no subject
Forget? HAHAHAHA such an optimist.
no subject
"No, I would never forget you, cousin. I love you too much for that."
no subject
He smiles at him wistfully. "Life would probably be easier if you could forget us all, but I know your heart is too great for that."
no subject
"I can't and won't forget either you or Maitimo!" the thought made a tear fall down his cheek. He loved them too much and the thought of being without them hurt.
no subject
"Do not weep, cousin. Not for me. You will live again and walk with your family in Tirion, and live as you were always meant to - in joy and peace."
no subject
It wouldn't be complete. "Please try to return if you can?"
no subject
"No weeping, little cousin. We will always be family. But you know as well as I that I am Exile and worse than that - I cannot return, Finno."
no subject
"At least I will get to see you here," he said as he leaned his head against Maglor's shoulder.
no subject
no subject
"You worry about me enough- let me worry about you and Nelyo," he said firmly. He loved his cousins too much to just let them be,
no subject
no subject
"Can I worry because I'm the king?" he asked after a moment. He didn't like being king but if he could use it to look after his cousins, he would.

"Worrywart." He accuses fondly. "And you wonder why you were so loved, as High King. No, I am sure of it - the Halls will not hold you long. You are far too bright a soul."
But yes yes yes, starting to walk to where he left Nelyo.

no subject
"You were the best high king we could have asked for, and certainly the dearest loved."
Maglor corrects crisply. "Do not underestimate how much good you did, nor how greatly your name is honored." Mainly because Turgon was the most useless High King ever if you didn't live in Gondolin, but Maglor's not going to tell Fingon that.
"Even into the Third Age, stories of you are still told."
no subject
"I was?" he had never sought glory- he just wanted to be a good High King to their people. Fingon never thought that he was special or that he deserved special praise just because he was a King.
Fingon bowed his head, overwhelmed for a moment. It was one thing to be highly regarded among the Noldor but his name being known for Ages to come? "I never thought- I never could have dreamed-"
no subject
Maglor shakes his head at him fondly.
"And they will sing your tales as long as there are those who know them, I think."
That Maglor wrote them has nothing to do with that estimation, of course not.
no subject
"Are those tales from you, cousin? Are you sure you're not a little biased?" But his cousin would never lie or try to make him feel better by such deception. He knew that if Maglor sung tales of him, it was because he meant them.
no subject
He knows the songs of the Third Age, after all, are about Glorfindel and Ecthelion... and not Turgon.
"Some of them might be." Proud still, especially about his art - that people still sing the songs of Maglor despite despising him will never cease to please him.
no subject
He knew his brother had always been always been different and preferred to retreat to his own spaces. He loved Turgon but it wouldn't surprise him that Turgon was not the subject of tales.
"I have no doubt that your songs do me justice," he said with a bright smile.
no subject
"They aren't all mine, of course. But some of them are."
And Maglor knows them all.
