"I always found chocolate remarkably good no matter where I ate it." He suggests. "Although that beesting cake looks interesting."
no subject
He taps the glass, and smiles widely as the native excitedly goes on about how tasty it is, and that they're fresh strawberries, and the cream is the owner's very own farm ...
"I'll make sure to let you know what I think so you can pass it on."
no subject
"I think we had best find a place to sit down and enjoy our bounty!"
no subject
So he smiles and nods at the cashier, and then makes his way further into the café, turning his head this way and that to look at the tables. Hmmm. Something by the window? Decisions, decisions, decisions.
no subject
"Too cold to sit outside in these mortal bodies." He muses. "But the sunshine is nice. What about that one, there?"
no subject
He swoops in with one smooth motion, taking a seat and putting tea and cake down ... And then his legs sprawl out. Don't be fooled for one second that he's something like smooth.

Maglor laughs softly at the way the Doctor sprawls in the chair, settling gracefully into the one opposite and sipping appreciatively at his tea.
"Mm, it is good to be able to relax so."
no subject
"Haven't been able to? Isn't that what parties are for?"
Two different kinds of relaxing, perhaps, but all the same. This whole shebang seems to be all about relaxing and having fun.
no subject
Maglor laughs. "I think I am glad for a chance to rest my legs."
no subject
He tuts. Really, are your legs so weak, Maglor?
Not that he isn't feeling some toll from running around looking for everyone, himself. There are a lot of people, a lot of noise and a lot to take in and do.
But his legs are mostly fine. For now.
no subject
Maglor protests laughing.
"But I am old and prefer my peace and quiet these days."
Not that the Doctor is much younger than him these days, probably.
no subject
Maglor probably told him once upon a time, but he certainly doesn't remember. He just knows Maglor is one of many who are much older than they look. From a human's standards.
no subject
"Well, obviously dates are a little suspect and difficult to convert until after we had a moon and sun but... as of last count, I am somewhere in the region of nine thousand four hundred. Give or take a few centuries. I think."
no subject
Which is to say, the Doctor might just be older than that even if he usually says two thousand, but he truly doesn't have any idea.
no subject
He eyes him in amusement. "So I am guessing you are not sure if you are older or younger than me, is what I am getting from that answer."
no subject
Perhaps one might question why it is that he can't be honest about it. That he prefers to lie, if not to be outright secretive and evasive. A way to escape from the matter that he actually doesn't know, maybe. Distract himself from the fact that he has no idea how long he's actually lived.
How long he's actually struggled.
Or maybe it's simply because there are so many years of his life that he isn't proud of, and he'd rather not think too much about all of those.
This is the most honest he's been for a very long time, about his age.
no subject
"Either way - tis not the years one has lived, eh? Have you been content with yours? Not all of it, necessarily - as I imagine there are few without regret. But in the larger picture, that is." And both of them are used to dealing in the big picture, when they have to.
no subject
If one gets stuck on the details, there is so much to regret. The bigger picture is a lot more forgiving.
He smiles wide, and brings the cup up to inhale the scent of the tea.
"Yes. Wouldn't have lived any other way."

So it wouldn't have been bad, to die as he is now. He's hardly angry with Clara for saving him, even less so ungrateful, but it would have been a good time to die.
no subject
no subject
And that's a terribly sad thing. He hopes, if anything, if he can't save people from death, perhaps he might have been able to show some of them that there is no need to regret.
