What: The MINGLE LOG for Week One of the Asgard Eventide Reunion!

[ OOC NOTES: Whether you're making a return to the city or this is your first time setting foot into Asgard, the gods and Natives alike sure are happy to see you. As a note: we were super fortunate to have a few of our old NPC handlers volunteer to pick up their old Gods for the reunion! We currently have Hel, Heimdall, Baldr, Thor, Freyr, Mimir, Honir, Asgard!Loki, and also Frigg available for threading. If you'd like to request an appearance from one of these kids, please say so in the title of your comment. Some of us may make our own top-level as well, so be on the lookout for that! A million thanks to our NPC team for being so fantastic, we love and appreciate you so much.

When the war ended, Hamel was one of the first Travelers to go back to their worlds - if there was a line, you can bet he cut and shoved his way through. So imagine his surprise when he found himself in Asgard again. It's been a while... much longer for the city than it has been for him.

He was quick to accept it, though. Being fawned over will do that to a person. Hamel wandered the streets, basking in the natives' admiration, telling stories of his amazingly heroic deeds from Asgard and back home. These guys were practically worshipping him and it was awesome.

That lantern, though... not so awesome.

Hamel just wanted to take a closer look, so he grabbed one in random. It glued itself to his hand and if that wasn't bad enough, this woman appeared out of fucking nowhere. He thought nuns were sweet, meek little things, but the bitch was as relentless as a loan shark.

Fortunately, the name on the lamp is familiar. Unfortunately, it takes him the better part of the hour to look for the elf and the nun wouldn't shut up, so when Hamel finally spots him he's beyond pissed.

"You!" He marches right up to Maglor and shoves the lantern in his face. The nun rings her bell behind him. "Take it now!"

(Hi buddy, welcome Hamel's version of a heartwarming reunion)

Where Hamel had left early, Maglor had lingered long, and left reluctantly. He hears Hamel coming (or well, his accompaniment) long before he actually sees him.

"Hamel?" He blinks at him and then at the nun behind him, and pushes the lantern down.

"What are you doing back and who is your friend?"

SHAME SHAME SHAAAAAAAAAAAME screams the nun, and yeah okay Maglor's eyes are laughing.

"Does she look like a friend to you?!"

(SHAME, SHAME, SIN AND LARCENY, SHAAAAAAAAME)

"I opened a door and found myself back, which was fine until this dumb broad decided I'm stealing your crappy lamp!"

Which he wasn't! For once in his life he's actually innocent!

"Are you gonna take it back or not? My fingers are cramping!"

"Well I will grant she is rather... raucous."

(SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME!)

Maglor grins but he's too fond of Hamel to torture him too much this way. "But here, I will relieve you of your burden, and hopefully that will soothe her ire."

Maglor obligingly reaches for the lamp, which bursts into brilliant golden light when he moves to actually take it from Hamel. When the light dies down, there is a small portrait in Maglor's hand - a family of seven boys and their parents, one of whom is obviously Maglor himself.

The light is so bright Hamel has to shield his eyes, but at least it distracts him from the nun. She finally leaves when it dies out - not before another bell jingle and a last SHAME right in Hamel's ear.

"OKAY, WE GET IT - huh." He goes around Maglor to get a better look at the portrait. "Pshh. They're all yours?"

(Says the future father of ten kids...)

Maglor is left blinking in the aftermath, and it is only Hamel's voice that draws him to the portrait in his hand.

"Oh it worked...."

He looks and a wistful smile quirks his lips.

"Aye - my brothers and my parents, in happier days."

Hamel glances at him, decides Maglor isn't about to do something lame like moping, and shrugs.

"Cool. I didn't know these come with presents."

He looks up, squinting in search of his own name.

"Does that mean you stuck around here all this time?"

Sadly for Hamel, the lantern's effect has had exactly the opposite effect, and Maglor only does not hug Hamel because he knows he hates it. Instead he beams brightly at him and claps him across the shoulders.

"A very good present - we should find yours, eh?"

He nods. "Not the whole time - but I was here for quite a while."

Shoulders claps are perfectly fine, and Hamel seems at ease enough. It has been a while, and he became just a little less rough around the edges.

"Of course we should. I found yours; you owe me."

He squints his eye at the lights.

"It looks so different now. If I'd known they were gonna build statues of us, I'd stick around longer."

"No you would not have." Maglor teases companionably. "I remember how eager you were to get home! Something about... being afraid they would go on adventures without you, hm? It seems you must have had plenty!"

He scans the nearby lanterns thoughtfully. "I cannot see yours in immediate range - we'd best start walking, hm?"

Hamel lets out an exaggerated huff. Fine, he'll walk, even though he technically shouldn't. With how the natives have been fawning over them, he expected to be carried around. Or better, have THEM bring him stuff.

"Please, like those guys could on adventures without their great leader." Honestly, his memory is a bit vague in places but he's certain he wasn't worried or whatever sappy bullshit Maglor's insinuating. "Anyway we had a ton. Lots of drama and me being amazing."

"So you keep saying." Maglor hums in amusement.

"The most amazing, I am sure." Totally not sarcastic, noooo. "And the pay was good?"

"The p - "

He frowns.

"Huh. You know, I haven't thought about the pay yet!" Now he just looks shocked. He can't believe he let all that final-battle-happy-ending excitement to distract him! "How could I be so negligent? I gotta start when I get back - billing everyone in the world is going to take a while!"

Maglor will not laugh at his friend, he will not laugh, he will not...

He might be smirking widely?

"Truly? Who are you and whatever did you do to my friend, for the Hamel I know would never allow such an opportunity to pass him by!

"Don't laugh, this is serious! I got so emotional I completely forgot I'm sitting on a prime business opportunity!"

"Emotional? You?"

Totally not laughing. Smirking, yes. But not laughing. Out loud.

"Surely not?"
