What: The MINGLE LOG for Week One of the Asgard Eventide Reunion!

[ OOC NOTES: Whether you're making a return to the city or this is your first time setting foot into Asgard, the gods and Natives alike sure are happy to see you. As a note: we were super fortunate to have a few of our old NPC handlers volunteer to pick up their old Gods for the reunion! We currently have Hel, Heimdall, Baldr, Thor, Freyr, Mimir, Honir, Asgard!Loki, and also Frigg available for threading. If you'd like to request an appearance from one of these kids, please say so in the title of your comment. Some of us may make our own top-level as well, so be on the lookout for that! A million thanks to our NPC team for being so fantastic, we love and appreciate you so much.

Right. Still got a world to end, or at least try to. [The tone that she said it with practically screamed 'not my world, not my problem.' Whatever misgivings, if his destruction wasn't in her path or the path of someone she cared about, she wasn't going to go out of her way.]

Might as well try to relax for a few days. It's not like we don't already know that you'll be sent back to the moment you left, right?

[granddevil]

[ a soft shrug. he has no intention of ending the world anymore. Plus: ] That already happened. [ a couple of times. it's a complicated canon. ]

And I might spare some time to the place out of nostalgia, but I already was relaxing.

[samantha_grey]

[This face. This is the face she was giving him. Gods, but he was exasperating at times.]

Right, I should remember. You're always relaxed, even when you're about to murder someone. Still, it already... happened, but you're...

Do I even want to ask?

[granddevil]

[ hey. He didn't destroy the world one of the times, God did. You can't always blame the Devil, you need to give opposition equal time.

But Satan glances at her before he looks back at the shrine. ]

Do you know why I wanted to end everything, Samantha? You all predictably assume it's a thing I'd do because that's what "the Devil" does.

[samantha_grey]

[She was totally ok with sharing the blame. Yahweh was a punk in her book, but she'd always been an opinionated little cuss.]

I've met enough versions of you to know that it might not have been that simple. You're not some colorful, comical character sitting in makeup waiting to play a roll. You had a reason, I'm sure.

[A shrug.]

Maybe it's a good one. Of course, it didn't really matter to me. I don't like standing in someone's way, in their path, unless it comes into conflict with mine. You wanting to destroy my world along with yours? We weren't going to end up on the same side there.

...but if you want to share, share. I'm not sure many of the others would listen, but I will.

[granddevil]

I killed someone I never meant to kill. [ basically, Satan fell in love. ]

Because of it, I gave myself to God and accepted His punishment. Even endorsed it. But as I was brought here to Asgard, I saw a way out of it all. [ of the guilt he felt, not the punishment itself. ]

[samantha_grey]

Ah... no, I don't completely understand, but I think I can. [She shrugged and glanced away.] When you care about someone, which I assume was the case here, it can make you do crazy things.

And if all you see is yourself, well... the world just melts away in the process.

[granddevil]

[ Akira's death fucked up Satan in too many ways. ]

Killing everything [ and himself along the way ] just seemed very easy. If that had happened, however, I wouldn't have found Akira to be actually be alive. [ Satan admits to his mistakes. ]

[samantha_grey]

No offense, then, but it's a good thing you failed isn't it?

[She gave him a rueful look as she said it, but again, no real judgment there. More just stating the obvious, that this Akira would be dead if he'd succeeded. she figured he probably knew that already, though, so it was mostly just a little light salt for the wound as they chatted.]

But I could see that. Not my way... but I could see that.

[granddevil]

It is. [ he doesn't seem too bothered to have his mistakes thrown at him. he has done so many already but he doesn't regret his actions of that time either. He did what his desperate mind came up with, even if clearly a mistake - killing akira in first place was a mistake also, one he paid for dearly. ]

It's a cliché. [ the Devil who wants to destroy the world ] I still hold no sympathy for humans, though. [ still kinda doesn't care if they all die. ]

[samantha_grey]

If it's any consolation? Neither you nor I do, so that's something we do have in common.

[She shrugged, shaking her head and looking up at his statue. It was a little more comfortable than looking at the naked being next to her, though she was dealing with that a lot better than usual. Her face took a stern look as she went on.]

What I do for them, I do for my own selfish reasons, and for the ones I individually care about. I do it for me, not out of principle. There are a lot back home that don't entirely understand that.

[granddevil]

We perhaps have a bit more than that. [ Demons and all. Even if Satan isn't really one. ]

They do the same. They are selfish creatures who paint themselves as righteous, who demand good from everyone else but themselves. So there is no need to justify your actions, Samantha.

[samantha_grey]

Probably. [She chuckled.] I... never really hated you, for one. Didn't trust you. I was kind of afraid of you, talking with you, but I didn't really hate you.

And, maybe. But I justify it all the same. Old habits. I spent too long dealing with demons whispering in my ears. Got used to self-justification.

[granddevil]

Hatred is a very simple feeling. I don't think most truly know what hate is. [ he smiles just a bit, his head wings moving ] It's fine not to be trusted.

You had reason not to, in this case.
