But they've never been there for all of it, either.
"I'll gladly tell you stories. But if I'm not flying while telling them, I prefer them over a cup of tea. What say you?"
It was always nice talking to Maglor, so he'd gladly do so. But over a cuppa is always ideal.
no subject
"I say that you are a man... well, a Time Lord, after my own heart! There used to be a small tea shop a few blocks over, I remember - shall we go and see if it is still there?"
no subject
And although the Doctor doesn't actually have any idea what Maglor is talking about, he starts walking. He's used to leading, all right? Still, he's definitely going the wrong way.
no subject
Maglor chuckles and snags his sleeve, casually turning him the right way. "That road, Doctor." He'll still let him lead though.
no subject
God forbid the Doctor doesn't know where he's going. For a man who prefers to never be anywhere familiar and thrives on new places and experiences, he has a weird fixation with needing to seem like he knows where he's going or what he's doing. No matter how impossible that is.
no subject
"I hope you have a good nose for tea, my friend."
no subject
What a ridiculous question. For centuries, he's practically lived and breathed tea. He knows tea better than most Brits! Honestly.
no subject
Perfectly straight face.
Better live up to that nose, Doctor!
no subject
"I always put it to good use."
no subject
"This had better be the best tea in Asgard, with claims like that Doctor!"
no subject
He washes his hands off this matter for now.
no subject
"Well we are in luck, for I see the awning - although I do not know if the same person runs it now - probably not. What does your nose say?"
no subject
"My nose can't work my magic if we're not inside. The outside tells me nothing."
no subject
"Then inside, inside, and we shall see what we have found."
The inside smells of tea and coffee and cake.
no subject
Well, he's gotten over it a little.
"All right, all right."
Once they're inside, he stops and takes a deep breath through his nose to smell it. Ahh, the best of smells ...
"Well, it's very promising. Let's go check out what teas they've got."
To the counter!
no subject
"It does smell good." He agrees, following the Doctor to the counter and looking around in interest.
no subject
There are teas of all sorts. Blacks and greens and reds and whites. Fruits and herbs. There's a little less on the cake front, but since they're mainly here for the tea anyway that's all right.
"Looks promising to me."
no subject
"Black or green catch your fancy?"
no subject
Earl Grey and things like that are always great, but he feels like perhaps trying something new. Surely they have a black tea he hasn't tried yet.
He'll just scan the whole row.

no subject
But he doesn't push, and instead points at a random kind of tea which's name he doesn't recognise.
no subject
"I am slow to experiment! And besides, that is what you are here for, no? If you like it, then I can try it, next time."
Maglor accepts his teapot and cup and sniffs as they bring the Doctor's over.
"Mm, at the least it smells interesting. A little... fruity, maybe? Is that a hint of mint?"
no subject
"I believe so." There's a pause, before he sends Maglor an amused smile. "Feel free to give me your best chicken impression."
no subject
"Did I mention my brother could speak to animals and tried to teach us?"
no subject
"No, I don't think you did! If there was ever a competition, you've won it."
