MINGLE LOG: WEEK ONE

Who: Everyone!
What: The MINGLE LOG for Week One of the Asgard Eventide Reunion!
When: March 1-7
Where: Anywhere in town!
Rating: PG-13 tops! Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please.

[ OOC NOTES: Whether you're making a return to the city or this is your first time setting foot into Asgard, the gods and Natives alike sure are happy to see you. This is a catch-all mingle log for Week One! Please check HERE for a run-down on what's cookin' this week. You can feel free to make your own headers, create your own events, or post your own logs elsewhere as you please. Please put [OPEN/CLOSED] along with the time/location of your character in the title of your comment.

As a note: we were super fortunate to have a few of our old NPC handlers volunteer to pick up their old Gods for the reunion! We currently have Hel, Heimdall, Baldr, Thor, Freyr, Mimir, Honir, Asgard!Loki, and also Frigg available for threading. If you'd like to request an appearance from one of these kids, please say so in the title of your comment. Some of us may make our own top-level as well, so be on the lookout for that! A million thanks to our NPC team for being so fantastic, we love and appreciate you so much.

Elrond remembered this place. Vaguely, but it still held a semblance of fondness and memory. And he remembered a certain foster father of his who had a favored tree. That was where the lord of Imladris went, smiling and inclining his head to those he passed.

Until finally, heart hardly daring to hope Maglor was just as returned as he, he swept over the grass to stand under that special tree, heart lighting at the sight above. And the soft little tune.

"Ada, while I know you could remain aloft for days," and had, "I would hope you would give proper greeting where and when it is due." teaseteasetease

The melody breaks off into sudden surprise, and then Maglor drops from the tree, wide-eyed.

"Elrond?"

He doesn't hesitate to close the gap between them, although he stops just shy of a hug, suddenly uncertain.

"Yonya, I did not expect to see you."

There was no such hesitation from Elrond. He knew how Maglor was, and that it was up to him to take that step forward. So he did, arms wrapping tight around him in a warm embrace.

"I had hoped to see you. I looked, but you were never there." But there was no blame in his voice, just a quiet wish. "You feel happy," and that meant a great deal.

When Elrond does, Maglor relaxes into it, clinging back just as tightly.

"I am sorry, Elrond. But that road... is apparently very closed to me, although another, stranger one has opened."

He pulls back a little to search Elrond's face and nods.

"I am. Content, at the least. Did you...?"

How he'd missed Maglor's embraces. They felt stronger here, something he'd forgotten. Elrond gave his foster father a curious look, if a little concerned. "How much stranger could it be?" Asgard was rather odd all in itself!

He kept hold of Maglor's sleeve, deciding he wouldn't be parted from the older elf for a while. Appearances be damned.

"I Sailed. Saw Tirion and," there might be a faint flush of pleasure to ears and cheeks. "Celebrian."

"Because I went home to Arda, Elrond... but ... not... quite." Maglor shrugs wryly.

"It is Arda, the Song did not lie, but... an Arda broken and marred almost beyond recognition. Parts of Beleriand returned, the places we know in ruins, and no-one about, the Song strangely warped in places. And the Valar are there Elrond."

He smiles to hear it. "Good. I am glad - may the two of you be very happy together."

He listened. Every word. Every pause. Maglor likely didn't know just how fiercely he'd been missed.

Elrond stared though, bewildered. Then reached up to lay a gentle hand on Maglor's cheek. "And have they treated you as poorly as you feared?" He doubted it. He saw no sign of injury. Only contentment. But for whole masses of land that had been sunk to be returned...it made no sense. And the Music warped.

But he smiled, unable and unwilling to hide that joy. "She has always been the other half of my heart, since we first met." Even when he'd been in painful denial.

"... Possibly I am deliberately avoiding them all" Cough.

"But like here there are folk from all over, the dead and gone and those with no business being in Middle-earth - I met my mother again, Elrond." Soft and wondering and happy.

"Even Maedhros and Fingon were there for a while. And Celegorm when he was but little Tyelkormo still."

He smiles brightly to hear it. "Good. You deserve to be happy, yonya."

Elrond gave Maglor a Look. Fond, exasperated, and amused all at once. "Maglor." Blameless.

But it was forgotten when the mention of Maglor seeing his mother again. His expression softened and he reached for a hand to squeeze it. "I am glad for you!"

The other names had him blink. "You should have brought Maedhros with you," he teased lightly. He knew it didn't work that way. "All of them, of course." But Maedhros especially. "Were they all well?"

A tug to Maglor's hand, fond little smile. "As do you, though I know better than to expect you to ever believe it."

"What?" Maglor spreads his hands at Elrond. "I am ... only making things easier for all concerned." Because hahaha talking to Manwe... NO.

"If I had known Asgard's gates would open again I would have!" Maglor smiles wistfully. "He would have been interested in seeing this place - and you, especially."

Maglor smiles back shyly. "I am, Elrond. Happier than I ever expected to be."

"How will your fears be put to rest if you do not speak with them?" Gently. A little sad, but still fond.

Elrond ducked his head a little, a little shy, but pleased all the same. "I would have loved to see him again," he admitted softly. There were many he'd like to see again, but didn't expect to.

"Good!" A little grin, just for Maglor.

"They will not hear me anyway." Maglor points out stubbornly.

"Then we shall hope the open door draws him in, eh?"

"Only because you do not even try," stern little frown. "You have said so yourself that you avoid them."

Elrond nudged Maglor to sit back by the tree, humming softly. "I certainly will."

"Why should I, when I know they heed me not?" Almost sulking.

But he obliges the nudge settling back against the tree.

"Maybe my brother, maybe yours?"

A scoff as Elrond settled beside him, leaning into his side comfortably. "I have never known you a coward. Were I there, I would stand at your side and speak with you to them."

He smiled a little, a little wistful. "Aye."

"Ah my clever little one. I was always a coward, Elrond. Too afraid to say no."

He reaches up and starts carding through Elrond's hair, humming softly.

"No. You were brave to say yes. To stand between your brother and children who were too frightened to run." And stubborn.

Elrond sighed, letting his head settle on Maglor's shoulder and relax under the petting. Maglor cheated by using all his weaknesses against him.

"Only once. And it hardly pays for all."

Maglor smiles as Elrond settles, pleased that the old tricks still work.

"But once has granted me a great blessing."

"No. Your following acts speak further. You could have treated us poorly, for how often we attempted escape. Instead you loved us, and taught us. You took us into your heart and your home."

Be glad Elrond loves you, Maglor! He couldn't help the smile.

"One that lives on."

"I would have been VERY worried if you had not tried to escape, Elrond." Maglor points out dryly.

"After all, we were both your kidnappers and the slayers of your kin. And it was easy to love you."

A dry little chuckle right back. "Indeed! Yet you never abused us, nor allowed harm to come to us. Others would not have been so kind."

Elrond raised his head just enough to lean his forehead against Maglor's, arms moving to curl around him. "Yes, you were. But as you said, it became easy to love you in turn."

"We were - we are kin too you know." Maglor points out dryly.

"Your great-grandfather is my cousin, after all. I would not have done you harm, nor Maedhros either - not once you were under our care."

He starts a little but wraps his arms back around Elrond and buries his face his in hair.

"Thank you, yonya."

A little nudge of elbow to side. "I do recall my history lessons, adar." After all, Elrond was often the one people went to when they needed some obscure fact, or some text read that few others could. Or at least....That was how it had been, before he'd Sailed.

"And it was getting to your care that took courage. I will not hear you say otherwise again."

Elrond smiled gently at him though, tightening his embrace.

"Always so clever." Maglor tugs a strand of hair. "Very well, I will yield to you in this."

Ha! He smothered the smug pleasure and kissed Maglor on the cheek. "As you should."

Elrond threaded fingers through his foster father's hair affectionately. "What were you doing with yourself in the altered Arda?"
